I’m not saying Pete Buttigieg is the worst Transportation Secretary the United States has ever seen, but it does seem most of the time like he’s an overwhelmed child playing “work” in a real-life cabinet position and importation role. There haven’t been a lot of glowing stories about the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Most focus on the fact that he is in over his head and doesn’t belong at the adult table. Today’s story is how fellow progressives praised him for making the bold decision to — wait for it — use taxpayer’s money to purchase female crash test dummies. Of course, he did. He’ll probably get the employee of the month gold seal for it. Rosa DeLauro is the congresswoman from Connecticut who showered Pete with praise for this bold, brave move. “This will start to fight the gender inequity among vehicle safety and crash victims.” It’s times like this when it hits home what kind of serious trouble this country is in. Tweedle Dum throws out verbal bouquets to Tweedle Dee. I don’t think they realize China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and probably Canada are all laughing at us and our collective cluelessness. It’s too bad she didn’t go on to explain what “gender inequity among vehicle safety and crash victims.” I’m curious. Has Pete considered what to do if one of the female crash test dummies identifies as a male? He’s probably preparing for that right now. Hard to believe Buttigieg is over his head. He did oversee a city council in South Bend, Indiana, with an operating budget of $425 million. He’s totally qualified to run a federal department that disperses roughly $253 billion annually and oversees our nation’s infrastructure.
